Abstract

Dataset of approximate location of >100 industrial zones, Special Economic Zones (SEZ) and other economic development areas in Myanmar. Based on publicly available reference data and google satellite by CDE Myanmar and MIMU. Location data is non-authoritative and based on publicly available reference data and local knowledge.
Masterdata in excel and location shapefiles (point and polygon). ArcGIS tool to combine, filter and export a cleaned product for public sharing.

Version 2024-09-11: - Review of MIMUs Industrial and Special Economic Zones (2019) dataset - compilation of additional reference data (e.g. https://myanmarindustries.org, facebook, ...) - identification of improved centrepoint coordinates and where possible area location/polygon using google satellite imagery and other publicly available reference sources. - assign unique identifier / code to each zone - translation using a best guess approach to english using various reference data to guide spelling (place names, etc.) - export masterdata to a simplified geodataset (reduced set of attributes) for easier use and public sharing - cross-checked with IZ listed in FMR Research 2019 listed IZ (https://www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/4755209/myanmar-industrial-zone-project-profiles#product--toc)
